Limits on Expert Testimony in Child Sexual Abuse Cases, written by managing partner of Bannister, Wyatt & Stalvey Alex Stalvey, has been recently published in “The Justice Bulletin,” the official publication of the South Carolina Association for Justice. The article discusses criminal sexual assault trials which involve unique legal issues that can be challenging to address. The State often uses a “forensic interviewer” as an expert at trial in order to offer an explanation as to why the jury should believe the victim. The article outlines various State rulings which are pertinent to these cases.
