Rockstar Cheer’s Sexual Misconduct Scandal
Rockstar Cheer is a popular dance gym and cheerleading group with national acclaim. The founder of Rockstar Cheer was reported to be under investigation for sexual misconduct at the time of his sudden death on August 22nd, 2022.
Federal and State law enforcement investigators are currently working to understand the extent of the abusive behavior at Rockstar Cheer and potential crimes. Since the federal government has seized devices from the founder’s home, we are hopeful that further evidence will come to light of the sexual misconduct and cover-ups related to abuses that may go back more than a decade.
The U.S. All Star Federation (USASF) is the governing body that ensures the cheer industry is a harmless environment for athletes to train and compete in. They also have a responsibility to prevent a culture of sexual misconduct in competitive cheerleading and to step in when they become aware of complaints.
After numerous reports in recent years of sexual abuse and harrassment investigations into national cheer and gymnastics organizations, many groups have affirmed they have policies to exclude predatory behavior from occurring and employ certified coaches without prior sexual abuse convictions.
We expected these cheer organizations to hold themselves to a higher standard. We must now hold them accountable.
